Wire-wound rods 200 mm
Wire-wound rods 200 mm are BYK-Gardner applicator rods used to create thin, uniform, and repeatable film drawdowns of coatings, paints, inks, varnishes, adhesives, and other liquid materials. Also known as Mayer Rods, these products are highly suitable for R&D laboratories, quality control, formulation comparison, color matching, and coating performance evaluation.
In paint application testing, consistent wet film thickness is critical because it can affect the evaluation of color, gloss, opacity, hiding power, leveling, flow, drying behavior, and appearance. Wire-wound rods work by allowing material to flow through the grooves between the wire windings on the rod, producing a more controlled and uniform wet film across the application area.
Wire-wound rods 200 mm provide a 200 mm film width and are made from 300 series stainless steel for durability and easy cleaning. Each rod has a 10 mm diameter, approximately 240 mm total length, and 20 mm grip space on both ends for easier handling during drawdown. This product is available in various wet film thickness options and can be used manually or with an automatic film applicator for paints, inks, coatings, adhesives, paper coatings, plastic films, and printing materials.
