SPI Heavy Duty Impact Tester is a BYK-Gardner testing instrument used to evaluate impact resistance on rigid PVC sheets, plastics, thick coatings, and other industrial materials requiring high-energy impact testing. This instrument helps users assess a material’s ability to resist impact, penetration, cracking, deformation, or failure caused by a falling weight.

In impact resistance testing, the sample is placed on a die, then a weight is dropped through a guide tube from a specified height to generate a measured impact energy. SPI Heavy Duty Impact Tester is designed for heavier applications than standard heavy-duty impact testers, especially when materials exceed the 160 inch-pounds evaluation range. With impact capacity up to 320 inch-pounds, this instrument is suitable for rigid materials, tough plastics, PVC sheets, and highly resistant coatings.

SPI Heavy Duty Impact Tester features a 40 inch guide tube with energy scale, 8 lb falling weight, 0.500 inch punch diameter, 0.640 inch die diameter, and a redesigned base arm for high impact applications. This product is suitable for quality control, plastics R&D, material development, supplier approval, batch comparison, and mechanical performance evaluation of PVC, plastics, rigid sheets, coatings, and materials requiring impact testing according to ASTM D2794, ASTM G14, ASTM D4226, ASTM D5420, and ASTM D3029.
