Falling Dart Impact Tester
Falling Dart Impact Tester is a BYK-Gardner testing instrument used to evaluate impact resistance and mechanical properties of packaging materials such as plastic films, laminates, paper, and flexible sheets. This instrument helps users determine a material’s ability to resist impact from a free-falling dart before failure, rupture, or sample damage occurs.
In falling dart impact testing, the sample is secured in a clamping device, then a dart is released from a specified height onto the sample surface. The applied impact energy is used to evaluate material strength against impact. This method is highly important to ensure that films, laminates, or packaging materials have sufficient durability during handling, transportation, converting, and end-use applications.
Falling Dart Impact Tester includes a base with sample clamping device, rubber gasket to prevent sample slippage, vertical column, release mechanism, dart, nylon clamp, and additional weights to adjust testing requirements.
