Drying Time Recorder

Drying Time Recorder is a BYK-Gardner testing instrument used to evaluate drying and curing stages of paints, coatings, varnishes, inks, lacquers, adhesives, resins, and other film-forming materials. This instrument helps users determine film drying time more objectively, repeatably, and with better documentation compared with manual observation.

In drying time testing, the coating sample is applied to a glass strip using a film applicator, then a needle is placed on the wet film surface. As the recorder runs, the needle slowly moves across the film and creates a track that indicates changes in film condition from the initial stage, surface drying, through drying, until the film becomes dry. The resulting track is used to evaluate drying behavior, curing performance, and formulation consistency.

BYK-Gardner Drying Time Recorder can test up to 6 samples simultaneously to improve laboratory efficiency. The instrument has standard speed options of 6, 12, and 24 hours, automatic switch-off at the end of the test, and includes glass panels plus 1 mm and 2 mm needle sets. This product is suitable for paint quality control, coating R&D, formulation development, batch comparison, supplier approval, drying time analysis, curing evaluation, and testing according to ASTM D5895, ISO 9117-4, and DIN EN 14022.
