Dow Latex Applicator is a BYK-Gardner film applicator specifically designed for latex paint, coatings, and similar liquid materials with consistent drawdown results. This applicator features a U-shape bar design that helps contain the pool of paint within the channel during drawdown, allowing the film width to remain more stable and repeatable.
In latex paint testing, opacity, hiding power, and coverage evaluation often require two-coat application on a single substrate. Dow Latex Applicator allows users to apply a second coat directly over a hardened first coat while the applicator ends remain on the uncoated panel surface. This design makes coverage evaluation more practical, efficient, and consistent.
Dow Latex Applicator has two gap clearances: 178 and 254 µm or 7 and 10 mil, with film widths of 13.3 and 14 cm. The applicator is made from stainless steel to support durability, precision, and easy cleaning. This product is suitable for latex paint testing, opacity evaluation, hiding power testing, scrub resistance panel preparation, paint formulation comparison, batch comparison, and quality control according to ASTM D823, ASTM D2486, ASTM D3258, and Federal Spec. TT-P.
