Coverall Bend - Impact Tester is a BYK-Gardner testing instrument used to evaluate coating flexibility and impact resistance, especially for can-stock coatings and coated metal panels. This instrument helps users assess whether a coating layer can withstand bending, double seaming, handling, and mechanical impact without cracking, flaking, delamination, or adhesion loss.

In metal packaging coating applications, flexibility and impact resistance are critical parameters because the coating must remain adherent and undamaged when the material is formed, folded, or exposed to impact. Coverall Bend - Impact Tester can be used for two types of testing: bend testing and impact testing. By simply reversing the impactor, the instrument can evaluate coating flexibility during forming processes and test coating impact resistance during handling.

Coverall Bend - Impact Tester is equipped with an inch-scale guide tube, 4 lb falling weight, punch, base with arm support, and supporting components for bend testing. For impact testing, the round-nosed end of the falling weight can be dropped from a selected height to generate force up to 160 inch-pounds. For bend testing, the coated panel is bent 180° over a rod, then impacted to evaluate damage in the folded area. This product is suitable for can coatings, metal packaging, coated panels, industrial coatings, quality control, R&D, supplier approval, batch comparison, and testing according to ASTM D3281.
