byko-drive XL, V is a BYK-Gardner automatic film applicator with a large vacuum plate for creating consistent film applications of coatings, paints, inks, varnishes, adhesives, and other liquid materials on test charts, panels, or substrates. This instrument is designed for larger drawdown areas, making it suitable for R&D laboratories, quality control, formulation comparison, and batch testing that require more repeatable film application results.

In coating testing, drawdown results can be affected by application speed, applicator pressure, substrate type, and operator technique. byko-drive XL, V helps reduce this variation with programmable speed, stable push-bar movement, and weight bars for more consistent applicator pressure. With a two-zone vacuum plate and built-in vacuum pump, the substrate can be held flatter and more securely during film application.

byko-drive XL, V supports programmable speed from 5 - 500 mm/sec, maximum test panel size of 285 x 438 mm, maximum stroke length of 380 mm, and push-bar gap clearance from 2 - 39 mm for thicker substrates or higher applicators. The instrument also features a touchscreen display, six setup memories, drip pan for clean-up, applicator storage shelf, and compatibility with wire-wound rods, applicator bars, applicator frames, and film casting knives.
