Byko-drive V
byko-drive V
byko-drive V is a BYK-Gardner automatic film applicator used to create consistent film applications of coatings, paints, inks, varnishes, adhesives, and other liquid materials on test panels or charts. This instrument helps users produce drawdown films with more repeatable thickness, pressure, and application speed compared with manual application.
In coating testing, differences in operator technique during manual drawdown can affect final results such as film thickness, gloss, opacity, color, leveling, and appearance. byko-drive V helps reduce this variation by controlling drawdown speed and applicator pressure. With its vacuum plate, the test chart or substrate can be held more securely during film application.
byko-drive V features programmable speed from 2 - 200 mm/sec, adjustable push-bar gap clearance for thicker substrates or higher applicators, user-defined start position and stroke length, a drip pan for easier cleaning, and optional weight bars for more defined contact pressure. This instrument is suitable for use with bar applicators, wire-wound rods, applicator frames, film casting knives, and other film application tools for R&D, quality control, formulation comparison, and batch testing.
